Real People. Real Stories.
Our team at Campaign for Safer Alternitives (CASA) is gathering testimonials from individuals who have successfully used smoke-free alternatives to either quit or significantly reduce their smoking. These personal stories are made available on our website for public viewing and may also be shared with lawmakers to advocate against anti-vaping regulations.
This collection of success stories serves as a powerful counterargument to those seeking to limit access to e-cigarettes and other reduced-risk products. Our aim is to compile a vast array of compelling personal accounts, making it clear that switching to low-risk alternatives (such as e-cigarettes, snus, and other smoke-free nicotine products) is an effective strategy for smoking cessation.
You are welcome to share your own experience and include as much or as little detail as you prefer. If you’re looking for guidance, consider the following questions:
- How long did you smoke before trying a smoke-free alternative?
- When did you start using a smoke-free product?
- What types of smoke-free products do you currently use, and have they changed over time? (Please avoid mentioning brand names.)
- Do you still smoke, and if so, by how much have you reduced your intake?
- Did you use both traditional cigarettes and smoke-free products simultaneously before fully transitioning? If so, for how long? Did you ever quit nicotine entirely and later switch to a reduced-risk alternative?
- What other methods (NRT, Chantix, counseling, etc.) did you try before switching, and how long did you manage to quit using those methods?
- What impact has adopting a smoke-free alternative had on your life, both positively and negatively?
Feel free to draft your story in a separate document and paste it into the submission form when ready. Please note that the entire story must be submitted at once, as you won’t be able to save and return later. There’s no word limit, and by submitting your testimonial, you agree to have it published online.

After smoking for nearly 5 years, I tried everything to quit—patches, gum, even prescription medications—but nothing worked for long. About two years ago, I decided to give vaping a try. At first, I reduced my cigarette intake, and within a few months, I had completely switched to vaping. It was the first method that actually stuck. I no longer smell like smoke, my sense of taste has returned, and I feel healthier overall. Vaping has genuinely changed my life, and I haven’t touched a cigarette in over a year now.

I started smoking when I was 18, and over the years, the habit became harder to break. I tried nicotine patches and counseling but couldn’t kick the addiction. A friend introduced me to vaping, and it was a game-changer. I started with both smoking and vaping, but soon I was down to just vaping. It’s been almost three years now, and I haven’t smoked a cigarette since. I’m grateful for smoke-free alternatives—they’ve made a huge difference in my health, and I no longer feel dependent on cigarettes.
