Advocacy

At Campaign for safer alternatives, we promote the evidence base by disseminating accurate of information nicotine and safer nicotine products.

Tobacco Harm reduction refers to a range of services and policies that lessen the adverse consequences of cigarette smoking and protect public health. Unlike approaches that insist that people stop smoking, tobacco harm reduction acknowledges that many people are not able or willing to abstain from cigarette smoking, and that abstinence should not be a precondition for help. It is a public health policy that respects individual autonomy, empowers consumers to make safer choices, and offers pragmatic solutions to combating use of high-risk forms of tobacco.

Our mission is to ensure the availability of a variety of effective, affordable, reduced-harm alternatives to smoking by increasing public awareness and education, advocating for responsible legislative and regulatory policy designed to improve public health, and to promote the benefits of reduced harm alternatives.

We advocate for the acceptance and expansion of tobacco harm reduction approaches necessary for sound public health practices and seek to empower consumers and represent their interests in various legislative and policy discussions to create change on local, state, national, and international arenas.

Part of our advocacy work includes promoting discussion and the exchange of information and potential actions to reduce exposure to tobacco related harm.
